At the 2nd International Bio-Computing Innovation Summit in Hong Kong, Prof Ava Kwong, Chairman of the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry officially announced a research collaboration with BioMap, a pioneer in AI foundation models for the life sciences.
Professor Ava Kwong also contributed to the Summit as a panelist in the session “AI Application on Frontier Drug Discovery.” Drawing on her extensive clinical research in breast genetics, she discussed how AI can reshape cancer research – from hypothesis generation and drug target discovery to trial design and real-world evidence integration. She highlighted the value of high-quality patient datasets, including the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry, combined with cutting-edge AI and the expertise of scientists and clinicians is essential to advancing the understanding of breast cancer.
Established in 2007, THE REGISTRY has the largest database and biobank of hereditary breast cancers specimens in Chinese which would facilitate better understanding of the disease locally and globally. This collaboration will further enhance our research in hereditary breast cancer and other hereditary cancers, providing patients with more comprehensive support services.
