After more than 3 years of irregular periods and spotting, I was finally diagnosed with Stage 2 Grade 2 Endometrial Cancer after a radical hysterectomy. The pathology report states no LVSI, less than 50 % invasion of the uterus, type 1, mostly grade 1 cancer cells but with some grade 2 cancer cells, extension to cervix about 4mm invasion. As the biospy before hysterectomy suggested it was grade 1, type 1 only, no MRI was performed. No lumph nodes were tested during the hysterectomy. I am now arranged to have 23 rounds of external radiotherapy n 3 rounds of internal radiotherapy. My worry is: how would it be sure that it is only Stage 2 but not Stage 3c if the lymph nodes were not checked? I am going to start the radiotherapy in January, should I have a PET scan? Are there ways to ascertain my lymph nodes status at this moment?
But if it was not done , there are two options
1. Go surgery again and having lymph node dissection
2. Proceed imaging scan such MRI pelvis and PETCT to look for Lymph node status
So more patients preferred imaging instead of going into the operation room again.
