How to reduce the absorption of lead?
Deficiencies of iron and calcium are associated with increased lead absorption. A balanced diet with adequate intake of calcium and iron is recommended. Iron or calcium supplementation may not be necessary unless there is deficiency.
Food sources of calcium include milk, cheese, yogurt, calcium fortified soy milk and tofu. Food sources of iron include red meat, poultry, seafood, egg yolk, beans, spinach and raisin.
