根據澳大利亞人報網站的報道，悉尼一家癌症治療中心 Chris O'Brien Lifehouse 在患者的化療中使用 VR 來分散患者的注意力。
一般新技術出來都可以用來治療癌症，VR 也不例外，但很多技術都是騙人的宣傳，VR 卻不是。
VR 確實能夠用於癌症治療，但是看到標題不要認為它能夠治愈癌症，或是替代什麼關鍵藥物，人們嘗試的是在治療過程中用上它而已。
根據澳大利亞人報網站的報道，悉尼一家癌症治療中心 Chris O'Brien Lifehouse 在患者的化療中使用 VR 來分散患者的注意力。
他們讓患者帶上 Gear VR 頭盔，在悉尼港乘船旅行，以及在動物園和考拉親密接觸。
這個項目是由 Start VR 悉尼、三星澳大利亞和治療中心合作開發的，治療師表示這是為了有益於患者的精神健康。
“（它能夠）讓患者逃離化療的體驗，暫時忘卻正在進行的治療。在譬如手術前這種情況下，患者的精神會更加焦慮。（使用 VR ）可以幫他們轉移注意力，平緩心情。健康不僅僅是身體上的，精神方面也很重要，”Chris O’Brien 的治療總監 Michael Marthick 表示。

具體使用時，患者可以使用 Gear VR 從內容商店或是 Start VR 的內容目錄裡選擇一些內容來體驗。
“我們希望找出 VR 是否能夠改變用戶對周圍環境的認知，我們覺得在治療環境下，患者坐著等待治療，擔心未知命運的情況是很不錯的應用嘗試，”Start VR 的內容負責人 Martin Taylor 表示。
